Mykonos Festivals and Events: Picture of arriving seasonal touristsThe nightlife on Mykonos has become somewhat legendary, along with its seasonal festivals, which between them attract a very mixed crowd of holidaymakers. Things to do on Mykonos vary greatly and if you are coming to the island to enjoy some of the very best clubbing events in the Mediterranean then you won't be disappointed, with many top nightclubs scattered around the main beach resorts, such as Paranga and Super Paradise.

However, if you are simply looking to soak up a little Greek culture, then the island of Mykonos also has plenty on offer, such as a myriad of religious festivals. These include celebrations during the Greek Orthodox Easter in April, and the Feast of the Assumption on August 15th.

Feast days seem to become an almost regular pastime during the summer months on the island, when many local churches hold their very own festivals, when you can expect to find food, wine and plenty of traditional Greek dancing.

Further festivities worth looking out for on Mykonos include the host of summer events, which include everything from open-air concerts and theatrical performances, to art exhibitions and dancing, all of which are organised by the island's very own Ministry of Culture. If you're here in the middle of September, then do check out the feast of the grape harvest, held annual at the Agricultural Museum.

The main events on the island where local patron saints of Mykonos are honoured are as follows:

  • Agion Apostolon - June 30th
  • Agia Paraskevi - July 26th
  • Panagia Tourliani - August 15th
  • Agios Ioannis - August 29th
  • Agios Nikolaos - December 6th
